“An otherworldly collection that brings the harp centre stage” – The Sunday Times
“Bewitching” – Jazzwise
Harpist, vocalist and composer, Tara Minton presents her new album, ‘The Devil Invites You To Dance‘ at Peggy’s Skylight. Written in México City in July 2023, the suite follows a soul’s journey through the Underworld of shadows and desire. Diving deep into Aztec mythology and Latin American dance traditions, the listener is taken on a dark and joyous exploration of what it means to be human. Beyond “should” and “shouldn’t” is the place where we meet ourselves with raw honesty.
Tara returned to México City in October last year to present the music at its place of origin and visit the album artwork – a large-scale public mural in Coyoacan painted by celebrated street artist, kober_mx. ‘The Devil Invites You To Dance‘ is released on Adhyâropa Records on the 11th of September.
Tara has played with Björk, ESKA, Stan Sulzmann, Geoff Gascoyne, Emma Rawicz, Alice Zawadski, Faris Ishaq, The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Opera North, The Royal Ballet and the Australian World Orchestra. She holds a master’s degree in jazz performance from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is proudly endorsed by Les Harpes Camac.
