A new project lead by guitarist/composer Tobie Carpenter, Possum Head tear into the music of Blue Note legends from the 1960s Soul Jazz explosion. Following Carpenter’s chart topping debut ‘Dead Pan Party’, the group explore material developed over their five year residency at Soho Jazz Club 2850 By Night. With a focus on blues and boogaloos from the UK’s finest improvisers, Possum Head celebrates the explosive sound of the Hammond organ era with joy and wit.
For this performance the group presents a special program of music from legendary guitar pioneer Grant Green. Green is the most prolifically recorded artist on the Blue Note roster. From Bop to Funk this music is full of fireworks. Alongside Carpenter is Ross Stanley (Hammond Organ) – widely hailed amongst the worlds finest Hammond Organists, and Euan Palmer (Drums) – a legend of the midlands jazz scene.
