Double bassist Martyn Spencer steps out from the back of the bandstand to lead this dynamic piano trio, focusing on the great bass players across the history of Jazz and the influence of the low-end instrument in shaping the course of the music.
Since leaving Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2007, Martyn has performed nationally and internationally as a side man with many revered musicians in the Jazz and popular music genres. Aces of Bass takes a dive into the music and works of, amongst others, double bass greats Paul Chambers, Ray Brown and Ron Carter but also bass-playing composers such as Charles Mingus and Jaco Pastorius.
Joining Martyn in the line up is Andrzej Baranek on piano, who is building a reputation as one of the country’s most in demand piano players, and acclaimed Birmingham based drummer Tymoteusz Jozwiak

- Though we can guarantee that you will have a table, we cannot guarantee exactly where, as we do our best to fulfil all customers requirements
- Seating in ‘Ella’ or ‘Satchmo’ (by the windows) is allocated last, unless specifically requested. Please note, a few of these seats are restricted view
- All seats are at a table or bar where you can order food and drink with table service
