FOLKROOM PRESENTS: Paul Mosley & Jack Harris

“Sometimes disturbing magic realist folk pop. Excellent” Q Magazine

“[Harris is] a natural and captivating songwriting talent, 5/5” – The
Telegraph

Paul Mosley & Jack Harris are two solo singer-songwriters who are, in their own right, among the most insightful and moving of performers on the UK scene. Close friends, Mosley and Harris, are coming together for a special performance at Peggy’s Skylight this August, sharing the bill with each other and sharing their wonderful music with us.

Old school Singer/Songwriter Paul Mosley composes for puppet theatre and writes concept albums with his chamber/junk ensemble, the Red Meat Orchestra. Beautiful and strange, Paul builds whole worlds with fantastical songs full of hooks and real-life pathos.

His folk opera ‘The Butcher’ won rave reviews and accolades from BBC 6 Music, The Quietus and Q magazine and his theatre composition work includes ‘The Further Adventures of the Owl and the Pussycat’ by Julia ‘The Gruffalo’ Donaldson for Little Angel Theatre and ‘Meadow’ for Iceland’s Handbendi Bruouleikhus, which won special commendation for composition in the Festival Valusr in Łomza, Poland 2021.

Jack Harris began his career as the youngest ever winner of the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk Award in 2005 (previous winners have included Gillian Welch, Devon Sproule and Adrienne Lenkerl). His songwriting is rich and compassionate, infusing the mundane with poetic beauty and bringing life to the most unlikely of things. His literary folk music is partnered with a razor-sharp wit that instils as much joy into the set as the songs themselves.

Jack and Paul will be performing together, bringing new life to their individual compositions. Don’t miss this opportunity to see two of the UK’s most original lyricists together in Nottingham for the first time.
