The Curious Cabaret

The Curious Cabaret is an incredible evening of legerdemain, laughter and libations; astonishing magic, hilarious antics, and delicious food and drinks – the perfect night out, hosted by Member of The Magic Circle, Chris Wilder.

Established in 2018, the show can be seen every month in Nottingham but also travels around the UK for private performances, creating lasting memories of amazement and wonder for our audiences. We seek to champion and celebrate the art and performance of magic, showcasing the best and the breadth that magic has to offer.

What To Expect

If you always thought that the art of magic was just camera tricks or staged reactions then prepare to have your world turned upside down. Each month, the Curious Cabaret showcases professional magicians from around the UK and Europe who excel in their areas of magical expertise, demonstrating feats of mind reading, sleight of hand, visual magic, comedy and illusion.

Throughout the evening you can expect to be amazed, enjoy fits of laughter, and find yourself asking ‘how’? The show is interactive, often involving audience members on stage, but rest assured we always aim to look after our guests and put them at ease. If you are nervous about being selected that’s no problem – just let us know – we always aim to help you to enjoy the evening.

The show is designed for adults and lasts 2 hours, including one or two short intervals to allow you to top up on food and drinks and perhaps discuss your theories of exactly how we did it!

Lineup

Chris Wilder

Two-thirds professional wizard, one-quarter magical idiot, and the remaining three-eighths mathematical genius – Chris Wilder is a Member of The Magic Circle with a love of time travel, obscure movie trivia, and cups of tea.

Your host for the evening, Chris will put you put you at ease and guide you through our evening of magic, perhaps with some magical buffoonery thrown in for good measure.

Aaron Calvert

Originally trained as a doctor, Aaron Calvert traded in his stethoscope to combine exceptional skills as a mind reader & fascinating hypnotic techniques to push every boundary & bring audiences ‘gasp-worthy‘ experiences they’ll never forget. From Channel 4 TV special Hello Stranger to critically acclaimed sell-out theatre shows across the UK & Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including the Fringe’s most successful debut show ‘Mind Games’ Aaron’s act is not to be missed!

Sam Fitton

It is not by coincidence that our second act for November was the co-writer and director of ‘Mind Games’ – the brilliant, Sam Fitton – forget the boxes, the rabbits & cutting people in half, Sam performs modern, fun & thought provoking magic that blends magic with theatre and special effects. Sam has performed countless shows all over the world and we can’t wait to showcase his goofy energy and magical charm at the show!
