The Simon King Organ Trio is a tour de force, featuring three top UK musicians who play a groove-infused jazz that incorporates blues, funk and latin.
Simon took up the guitar at the age of 15, brought up in a house full of musicians he was exposed to everything from Mahavishnu, to Buddy Rich and Joe Pass. Quickly Simon gravitated towards funk and jazz, studying players like Mike Stern and John Scofield, and becoming a huge fan of Allan Holdsworth. Simon, being a multi-instrumentalist, also played trumpet, piano, drums and bass. He enrolled at the Leeds College of Music, studying through post graduate level on drums and guitar, specialising in Jazz. Since graduating Simon has carved out a reputation as a technical and uncompromising jazz guitarist and multi-instrumentalist producer, and has built a reputation as one of the stand out jazz guitarists in the UK & Europe. He won the Musician’s Union Outstanding Musician Award twice, touring and recording with his Organ Trio featuring Jim Bashford and Matt Ratcliffe, and is involved in many ensembles as a sideman.
