TRiOL are a piano trio that combine diverse influences from the European stylings of ECM to electronica and rootsy grooves of the Afro American jazz tradition.They are:

Matt Ratcliffe: Pianist and composer, Matt is a conservatoire educated Jazz pianist, influenced by improvisers such as Thelonious Monk and Paul Bley and conceptualist George Russell, Matt is equally fascinated by rhythmic concepts found in world music as textures and ideas by composers such as Daphne Oram. Matt has long played on the U.K. jazz scene and this is his first original project under his leadership

Simon Paterson: Double Bass, educator and composer, Simon is a senior lecturer at Nottingham University, a performing musician and leader of his own group Angels in the Architecture

Tymoteusz Jozwiak: Drums, Tymek is a big presence on the West Midlands free jazz scene, playing with some of the best up and coming musicians as well as some great established artists such as Paul Dumnall. Tymotuesz is the drummer in Sid Peacock’s Surge
