“Exciting Stuff!” - Clare Teal – BBC Radio 2

One of the UK’s most exciting saxophonists, vocalists and composers, Kim Cypher performs her debut at Peggy’s Skylight with her highly popular ‘Love Kim x’ album tour. This is the perfect opportunity to hear tracks from Kim’s new album performed ‘live’ with her band of top UK musicians.

Inspired by the funkier side of jazz and having studied alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis and internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Kim’s style of performance is best described as ‘funky saxophonist meets 1940′s jazz singer’

She performs an eclectic mix of music spanning many genres with a quirky, jazzy twist together with her own original material, all packaged up in a captivating performance and warm stage presence. Kim’s 2nd album ‘Love Kim x’ is a collection of inspired original music and quirky takes on some well-known classics all performed with great verve and style.

“A bright, passionate performing light on the UK Jazz scene playing an enjoyable mix of Jazz, from classics through to real funky interpretations of modern mainstream music.” Editor, Jazz In Europe

Kim's highly successful debut album tour included sell-out shows across the UK in 2017/18 including top London jazz clubs and some great venues and festivals. Kim's new album tour kicked off with a sell-out show on 8th February 2019 with special guest Pee Wee Ellis who features on the album. The tour has since included an official album launch at Pizza Express ‘live’ Soho, shows at Toulouse Lautrec London, The Bull’s Head Barnes, opening Stompin’ On The Quomps Festival Dorset plus many other great jazz venues.

“Hats off to a true heart and soul performer”- Pee Wee Ellis

Kim has performed in the UK and New York alongside some of the finest jazz musicians including David Newton (14 times winner of best pianist in The British Jazz Awards), Pee Wee Ellis (saxophonist and musical director with James Brown and Van Morrison), Clive Morton (long time sideman to Frank Sinatra and Jamie Cullum’s ex-tutor), Liane Carroll, Andy Sheppard, New York guitarist B.D. Lenz, cabaret star Anita Harris, with regular band personnel including Chris Cobbson (guitar), Mike Green (double bass) and husband Mike Cypher (drums)

Her varied and accessible selection of music together with her warmth on stage and versatility as a saxophonist, vocalist and all-round performer is firmly cementing her place on the jazz scene and her growing popularity as an artist.

“One of the UK’s most popular players.” - Sammy Stein – Women In Jazz

The band line up for this special night is quite simply outstanding and features some of the most highly regarded and experienced musicians on the UK jazz scene:
