Isabella Hallia
Isabella Hallia is a Montréal-based jazz vocalist whose lyrical voice and warm, resonant tone bring fresh sensitivity to the timeless sound of traditional vocal jazz. Drawing inspiration from icons such as Anita O’Day, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, and Mel Tormé, Isabella performs original compositions written in the tradition of the Great American Songbook alongside thoughtfully reinterpreted and self-arranged standards. Dedicated to preserving the legacy of classic jazz, she offers audiences an authentic and emotionally engaging experience that bridges tradition and individuality.
Career highlights include receiving the Jury’s Favorite Award and performing at Carnegie Hall at age seventeen through the American Protégé International Competition, headlining Montréal’s iconic jazz venue Upstairs, and producing a three track live demo in 2024 with support from a FACTOR Professional Development grant. In 2025, she toured with her trio across Quebec and Ontario, performing at six major jazz festivals and opening for Madeleine Peyroux at the 45th annual Montréal International Jazz Festival.
Looking ahead, Isabella will release her debut album, Isabella Hallia: A Formal Introduction, during the fall of 2026. The project – a collection of three original compositions and personalized arrangements of jazz standards – serves as a musical self-portrait and the centerpiece of her upcoming Canadian tour. Through this album, Isabella aims to share a more intimate and personal side of her artistry, inviting audiences to connect with her deep love of the jazz tradition.
