George Platt Quartet
The George Platt Trio comprises Lucas Walters on Keys/Synth, Elliot Hamilton on drums, Will Smith on bass and George Platt on Woodwind. The trio are known for transforming well known songs from the decades gone by into smoother, jazzier renditions. Their favourite number, ‘Yes And?’ is an uptempo dance song by Ariana Grande that they completely strip back, slow down and accentuate its potential as a smooth jazz melody with an addictive groove. This is made possible by the wonderful chord substitutions devised by Lucas Walters on the keys. Their set typically includes Funk, R&B and Soul classics from the 70s and 80s up to modern music. They play these songs in a style that pays homage to their forefathers who introduced the world to jazz, soul and blues many years ago.
