“Founded in 1939 by Alfred Lion, Blue Note Records is loved, respected, and revered as one of the most important record labels in the history of music. Blue Note Records are designed to serve the uncompromising expressions of hot jazz or swing. Direct and honest hot jazz is a way of feeling, a musical and social manifestation”

Dennis Rollins

A passionate performer and educator, British trombone player Dennis Rollins MBE has established a reputation as an artist of excellence and has lent his unique and stylish talents to some of this country’s, and indeed the world’s top jazz and pop personalities such as Courtney Pine, Maceo Parker, Jamiroquai, US3, The Brand New Heavies, Blur, Monty Alexander, Pee Wee Ellis and Jean Toussaint, amongst others.

Magnus Hawker-French

Making his debut headline appearance at Peggy’s Skylight, Nottingham Trombonist Magnus Hawker-French has been a regular at Peggy’s since it opened in 2018, performing at jam sessions and attending gigs from the age of 15. Currently based in London and in his first year studying jazz at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Magnus is quickly becoming a name across the UK jazz scene. With influences from Curtis Fuller, Freddie Hubbard, and Mark Nightingale, Magnus has been playing the trombone since the age of 11 and already plays with a stylish melodic maturity that draws in his audiences.

After meeting Dennis Rollins through Derby Jazz’s post-lockdown collaboration Loosen Up, Dennis began teaching and mentoring Magnus, fuelling his musical and professional development whilst still allowing him to keep his own unique artistic voice.
